“You are invited to join Kasia Jacquot for a full day of traditional Polish embroidery. All of Kasia’s work is heavily influenced by the vibrant and colourful folk arts from her home in Poland. She spent the first part of her childhood in a small village where she was surrounded by tradition and folk crafts absorbing sewing and embroidery form the women in her family. Forced to flee her country with her mother at the age of 10, she has used embroidery throughout her life to remain connected to her roots and her culture. Currently her designs are a more contemporary take on the traditional stitchings of Polish folk costumes but Kasia has created a new design and workshop where you can immerse yourself in the vibrancy and richness of a traditional Polish embroidery design.
This traditional design will introduce you to the colourful and decorative world of Polish embroidery. Kasia tells stories of her home town, shares traditions and is a generous and supportive teacher.
It does not matter if you’re a complete novice, you will be guided gently through each stitch and colour choice. You will learn a number of stitches and how to apply them together as well as how to combine the colours to create the joyful patterns of folk culture in Poland. Kasia brings many examples of her embroidered work to class and talks about how you can apply what you learn in class to many future projects. This workshop specifically will also bring focus onto the satin stitch and shortcuts and tips on how to make it easier to apply.
